A social justice curriculum is imperative to a complete education. These topics overlap with the personal and academic lives of students in profound ways. However, it can be difficult to effectively incorporate important social justice themes into the classroom. For Extending the Link’s 12th Act Local initiative, we developed a five-day unit plan that teaches about global social justice awareness, and encourages students to think about these topics in their own communities. This unit is designed for high school students and can be best integrated into a Social Studies curriculum but can also be adapted for English Language Arts.
